Of predominantly Russian-Ukrainian heritage, Margarita spent her childhood regularly moving between the two countries. Exposed to a variety of environments from rural Siberia to the warm shores of Crimea. Eventually moving to Auckland in 1999 and much travelled since. In recent years drawing inspiration from time spent living and traversing North America.

Margarita is a multi disciplinary self taught artist in a continuous cycle of give and take. Her work is often autobiographical and a reflection of explored landscapes and cultures making a strong connection between her life and art.
